On June 29, 2023, the same day the conservative-majority Supreme Court struck down affirmative action at universities, the California Reparations Task Force released its final report.

Over nearly 1,100 pages, the report details the historic and ongoing harms perpetrated against Black people in California, from enslavement to Jim Crow to present-day structural racism. The document also outlines more than 115 policy recommendations to put us on a path toward a better future.

The Democrats Abroad Reparations Task Force applauds the groundbreaking work of the California Reparations Task Force and all of the community members who participated in this two-year process. Now that we have the truth laid so plainly before us, it is time to urge state lawmakers to act.
