    Make "Good Trouble"

    and Save Our Democracy!

A fundraiser in celebration of the life and work of the late Georgia Congressman and Civil Rights leader, John R. Lewis.

Democrats Abroad is commemorating Congressman John Lewis with two online screenings of the documentary "John Lewis - Get in the Way" on July 11, various actions days after Congress resumes legislative business, and a Forum on July 17, the one-year anniversary of his passing.

Often described as the conscience of the Congress, John Lewis was a friend to Democrats Abroad. To raise funds for DA’s GOTV efforts, we ask everyone—whether you attend or not—to donate $19.65—or for those who wish to be a Gold Star Supporter, $80 representing the 80 years of John Lewis’ extraordinary, courageous life.

Please join Democrats Abroad to honor the memory of John Lewis and carry forward the flame of his dedication to voting rights for all.

The Board of Democrats Abroad Canada – Winnipeg
invites you to attend your Annual General Meeting

The Winnipeg Chapter is in the stage of reformation, and the AGM is an opportunity for members from across Manitoba to come together to discuss plans for chapter sustainability, and for a report on the activities of Manitoba members for the 2020 election.

A Call for Nominations was distributed to the members on Mar. 14th and you can access Candidate Statements by clicking here.

  • Call for nominations ~ Help create a community by becoming a leader in the Winnipeg Chapter!

The attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6th reminded us that democracy is fragile and our work to protect and strengthen it is more important than ever, and we invite you to share in shaping the future of America.

An important next step for the Winnipeg Chapter is to
elect our Board for the 2021-2023 term.

We are very grateful to Ben Miller for his leadership and efforts in 2020, motivating members of the Winnipeg Chapter to engage in several of Canada’s get out the vote initiatives, with the support of DR. MJ Willard. They were able to engage with many members to assist in delivering a record voter turnout from Americans living in Canada.

But DemsAbroad Canada is at a decision point of whether or not the Winnipeg chapter, which has several hundred members, can continue to be an ongoing entity…we need your help!

You may serve a leadership role from anywhere in the chapter, which is much larger than its name implies. Whether you live in Winnipeg, Brandon, Flin Flon, or anywhere in Manitoba, there’s a spot for you. As the Nominations and Elections Committee, we invite you to learn about the Board positions, and to consider a nomination.

You do not need to know the ins and outs of Democrats Abroad to be in chapter leadership. We’re a 100% volunteer organization - everyone in elected office at the chapter and national levels is continuously learning new things about the organization. Plus you’ll have support from the Canada country committee and thirteen other chapters so you’re not operating on your own.

Eligibility: American citizens residing in Canada, legal voting age, a member in good standing of the Democrats Abroad Canada – Winnipeg chapter, and willing and able to handle the duties while adhering to the principles of the Democratic Party of the United States.

Terms are two (2) years. As a Board member you will be expected to actively participate in the management of the Chapter, including attendance at monthly board meetings, either in-person or virtually.

Please refer to the Democrats Abroad Canada Bylaws for more details.

Here are actions you can take:

      • The deadline for submitting a nomination is 11:59 PM ET Monday, March 29, 2021.

      • Nominate yourself, or a fellow Democrats Abroad - Winnipeg member, with their permission, by completing the Nomination form at this link.
        • Include a Candidate Statement of 300 words or less. Tell us about your reasons for running and any applicable experience within Democrats Abroad or elsewhere. Include social media handles.
        • Alternatively, you may send a written Candidate Nomination through postal mail. You must include
          • Your name, email address & phone number
          • Name & contact details of the member being nominated, and the office being nominated for. Consent must be received by the member if nominating someone other than yourself.

  • Call for Nominations - Become a leader in DemsAbroad Windsor

The Democratic Party had tremendous wins taking back Congress and the Presidency! As we are celebrating and gearing up to strengthen our control of Congress in the 2022 election, we are also sobered by the disturbing events in the Capitol Building in early January. We are ever reminded that democracy is fragile and our work to protect and strengthen it is more important than ever, and we invite you to share in shaping the future of America.

An important next step for the Windsor Chapter
is to elect our Board for the 2021-2023 term.

The Windsor Chapter was reactivated during the 2020 election cycle, and we believe there are a number of members interested in seeing a sustainable chapter. You may serve a leadership role from anywhere in the chapter, whether you live in Windsor, Leamington, Chatham-Kent, or anywhere in the surrounding area. As the Nominations and Elections Committee, we invite you to learn about the Board positions, and to consider a nomination.

  • Your help is needed to rescue votes in Georgia thru Jan 8th!

    Georgia voters challenged

You can rescue votes in Georgia no matter where you are - thru Jan 8.

Literally, thousands of Democrat voters in GA are calling the Democratic voter hotline because they are finding that they’re facing issues when they try to vote.  The Democratic Party can help them resolve the issues so their vote will count -- but needs volunteers like us to call these voters back one-by-one for assistance.

This is a “high value” volunteer opportunity.  “There’s a direct payoff.  Every person I reach becomes a vote gained,” says DA Canada member David Mivasair, who’s been doing this since Election Day.  “ And, I’m afraid that everyone we don’t reach is a lost vote.  Thousands are calling for help and waiting to hear from us.”

The Democratic Party of Georgia has a very effective system and simply needs people like us to make the calls.
