Last month Democrats Abroad leaders and members from around the world gathered in the District of Columbia to elect our new international board. The new International Chair is the Netherlands' own Martha McDevitt-Pugh! Congratulations Madam Chair.
In addition to the election we arrived early for a Congressional door knocking campaign and held meetings with Congressional and Senate staffers educating them on the issues that Americans Abroad face.
We took the stories of you, our members directly to the halls of the Capitol! We told them stories and pressed for Medicare Portability, Tax reform, Voting rights, the ERA, the climate emergency and more! Interested in getting involved with the individual teams or caucuses.
Some members participated in events such as: A Global Black Caucus tour of the National Museum of African American History & Culture, a Global Women;s Caucus reception, Gala, D.C. Pride, White House Tours, Tours of Capitol Hill, meetings on Capitol Hill. Throughout the week we heard from multiple U.S. Representatives, US Senators, and even John Kerry about the importance of Democrats Abroad and the overseas vote! Our meetings are open to all memebers, later this fall our EMEA regional meeting will be held in Allicante, Spain over a weekend!
Remember! We are an all volunteer run organisation. Everyone paid their own way and it was well worth it!
