Volunteer to Help at the Global Primary

The Global Primary is fast approaching, and we still need some help! Can you step up?

We need volunteers to fill a number of roles during the Global Primary events in GENEVA ON TUESDAY, MARCH 1ST and especially in ZURICH ON SATURDAY, MARCH 5TH. Some of the types of roles we like to ask volunteers to fill:

  • Help with Set up
  • Greeter outside the room
  • Line-handler
  • Welcome Table
  • Registration Table
  • Membership Check/Ballot Table
  • Swag Table
  • Press Desk
  • Photographer

Doesn't matter if you never volunteered before, this is a great time to join in the excitement of the 2016 election. No matter what your talent is, chances are we can put it to good use. We're always in need of friendly people to greet and assist our members, help us blog and post on social media (use #GlobalPrimary or #2016GPP) including photographers, and to help set up and clean up.

Write to volunteer@democrats.ch and specify which Primary Event (GENEVA or ZURICH), your prefered role and shift.

Where in the World Will You Vote?

Global Primary Voting in Zurich, Saturday March 5th
Global Primary Voting in Geneva, Super-Tuesday March 1st

U.S. citizens living outside of the United States are urged to vote in the Global Presidential Primary. For Democrats living abroad, there is nothing more important than voting in the GPP and getting as many others to do the same. We will be counted by the number of votes we register in the #2016GPP and a strong turn-out will ensure elected officials remember they represent Americans living outside of the country too.

Democrats Abroad Have a Voice

Democrats Abroad’s Global Presidential Primary provides overseas Americans a voice in selecting the party's nominee for president.

In Switzerland, Americans may vote in person at Global Presidential Primary Voting Centers in Geneva and Zürich.

Beginning Super-Tuesday, March 1 until March 8, Democrats living abroad will vote in a dedicated global presidential primary to choose the party's candidate for the presidential election. Based on our votes, Democrats Abroad will send 21 voting delegates to the Democratic Party National Convention.

The National Convention will be July 25-28 in Philadelphia, PA, at which time the Democratic candidate for presidential election is chosen. And with your help, we will see the next Democratic President of the United States elected on November 8, 2016!

Outreach Coordinators

Help us Connect with Americans in your Study Abroad Program, Workplace or Club

Are you here on a study abroad program? Do you work for a company or government agency that employs Americans in Switzerland? Are you active in the local branch of your alumni association? Do you participate in any local club or social group that includes Americans?

Then we want your help!

Would you volunteer to be either a Democrats Abroad Outreach Coordinator or put us in touch with your program/club/group?

As an Outreach Coordinator you can help other Americans to register to vote, with access to experienced voter registration volunteers. Together, we can:

  • Schedule an on-site U.S. Voter Registration day
  • Prepare a flyer about Voter Registration to share via email to your colleagues or post in common areas
  • Inform your fellow Americans of election news and voting deadlines
  • Enable your fellow Americans to participate in state primaries and the U.S. General Election

If you are ready to help, then fill out our online Volunteer sign-up form!

We will give you the information and tools you will need to connect with other Americans. It might even be as simple as meeting other current members of Democrats Abroad at your office. If your school program, church or club is having an orientation day or community fair, let us know so we can set up a voter registration table or hand out information. All our voter registration activity can be organized in a non-partisan way.

Vote In the Global Presidential Primary

Global Presidential Primary

Democrats Abroad Have a Voice

Each presidential election cycle, Democrats Abroad holds a global primary, when U.S. citizens and registered Democrats all over the world can cast a ballot for the candidate to best represent our concerns.

There is nothing more important you can do as a Democrat living abroad than to vote in our Global Presidential Primary and to get as many others to do the same. The more votes we can register, the more strength Democrats Abroad can display, which in turn may lead to more support for our important efforts in the future.

Beginning Super Tuesday, March 1 until March 8, Democrats living abroad will be able to vote in a dedicated global primary to choose the party's candidate for the presidential election.

Based on our votes, Democrats Abroad will send 21 voting delegates to the Democratic Party Convention in Philadelphia.

The National Convention will be July 25-28 in Philadelphia, PA, at which time the Democratic candidate for the presidential election is chosen. And with your help, we will see the next Democratic President of the United States elected on November 8, 2016!
