The Democrats Abroad Valencia Fundraising Team has developed an exciting and innovative program called "House Parties-Donate for Democracy" which it is promoting and sharing with other Democrats Abroad chapters around the world. The Valencia chapter has already hosted two House Parties and raised an impressive $1,050 to date. The lively attendee discussion and engagement has been inspirational.
The Democrats Abroad Valencia Fundraising Team has developed an exciting and innovative program called “House Parties—Donate for Democracy” which it is promoting and sharing with other Democrats Abroad chapters around the world. The Valencia chapter has already hosted two House Parties and raised an impressive $1,050 to date. The lively attendee discussion and engagement has been inspirational.
All of the materials needed to plan, host, and present a successful fundraiser, with the support of your local DA chapter, is provided in a comprehensive, easily accessible resource called the DA House Parties Toolkit. The Toolkit’s materials include: a host home tip sheet; a sample invitation template; a general script for the presentation and “ask”; a visual slide deck; an attendee evaluation form; a sign up sheet for future house parties; a post-event thank you email; and a donation solicitation email for friends and family living in the United States. Since all the materials have already been prepared in advance via the Toolkit, this means that hosting a DA House Party is streamlined, efficient, fun, and rewarding. Additionally hosts are reimbursed up to $50 for food and drinks they provide to host the event.
Along with the Toolkit, a pre-recorded training provided for House Party hosts and presenters reviews how to utilize and implement the materials as well as how to be an effective fundraiser. The training is led by Cari Class, one of the team members who spearheaded the development of the program based on her ten years of experience with this model of fundraising. Cari felt confident that bringing the House Party fundraising model to Democrats Abroad chapters globally would be an effective, winning proposition in advance of this year’s general election. After all, democracy is at stake!
In advance of the 2024 election and the work ahead to increase and mobilize voter turnout, generating sufficient financial resources to support DA’s vital work is paramount. Additionally, The House Parties are an effective means to educate the expat community about DA’s work, garner volunteers for phone banking and other voter outreach activities, and increase chapter membership.
