Can you believe it? June is almost here and summer vacation won't be far behind. (The summer weather decided to show up a little early, though!)
We usually take time off from most events during the summer, since so many of our members and volunteers are traveling. We're very busy in June, though, trying to make up for it! In addition to all the events listed below, June means Pride. The Zürich Pride Demo will be held on June 20, starting at 1:30 PM. One week later, the Basel Pride Walk takes place on June 27, starting at 3:30 PM. As of right now, we don't have plans for the Basel chapter to attend either of these events as a group, but if you would like to, please let me know via email or in the BaslerDems Signal chat!
We hope to see you for an event (or two!) in the next month; you'll have plenty to choose from. Do you have ideas for how we could reach potential voters? Are you looking to become more involved this year? If so, please answer our Basel Engagement Survey or fill out our Volunteer Sign-Up form!
We have two immediate volunteer requests, one for phone- and textbanking and another for postcard writing. Let us know if you'd like to participate!

Our 2026 DACH Wellness Series is almost over; there are only two events left! You can:
- Attend Pampering & Self-Care on Friday, June 5, or
- Attend Releasing Negative Emotions with Olga Müller on Sunday, June 14.
Curious about what you may have missed earlier in the series?
- Watch a video of Mindful & Mobilized with Adrianne Lind, or
- Download a free copy of Mindful & Mobilized: The Digital Wellness Guide for Political Activists through May 31, or
- Watch a video of Finding Clarity & Stillness in Your Mind with Olga Müller.
This weekend, DA leaders from around the world will be meeting online and in Nairobi to hold our 2026 Annual General Meeting! We will hear from Democratic leaders and volunteers from back in the US and various country committees about mobilizing to Get Out the Vote this year! We will also be considering a slate of 13 resolutions. I am one of Switzerland's six DPCA voting representatives, meaning I cast my vote at these meetings on behalf of you, our members. So if you have any thoughts, please let me know!
You can see this weekend's agenda here: https://wiki.democratsabroad.org/Kenya2026
As well as the 2026 Resolutions here: https://wiki.democratsabroad.org/Resolve2026
Finally, I want to remind you that your Democrats Abroad leaders (from Basel all the way up to our international Executive Committee) are working on political actions that we can either organize or join. Keeping an eye on our Facebook, Instagram, and/or chapter Signal chat will be the best way to get our most up-to-date information.
Democratically yours,
Liz Voss

If you are a U.S. citizen living abroad, using the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) is the absolute best way to request your ballot. While you can technically use your specific state’s standard absentee ballot form, the FPCA grants you specific, powerful legal protections under federal law that state forms do not.
Over the next few newsletters, we will highlight these benefits. The third benefit: Electronic Delivery Options
Standard state absentee forms often require the ballot to be mailed to you physically. When you use the FPCA, states are required by law to give you the option to receive your blank ballot electronically—usually via email, fax, or a secure online portal. This saves weeks of transit time.
The absolute best way to complete and submit an FPCA is via VoteFromAbroad.org. If you haven't requested your ballot yet this year, please do so now! And check with your U.S. citizen friends and family to make sure they have as well.
Have more questions about How to Vote from Switzerland? We've got a page for that!

We want to know what you think about the events we've had so that we can make future events better!

Global Events and Announcements
As you travel this summer, you might want to take a look at the Global Events Page. You're very likely to find an event near you with people who share your worldview! But for now, here are some highlights:
- Right On! Write On!
Words Matter. Stories Matter. You Matter.
Writing is not only expression—it is excavation.
It is a way to understand what we believe, what we fear, what we resist, and what we hope to build. This month’s themes invite us to examine frustration, power, voice, identity, resistance, and joy. Pick one of the topics or bring your own, but come! May 28th from 7 - 8:30 PM CEST, hosted by the Global Women's Caucus.
You can join this meeting from your computer, tablet, or smartphone. - Building a Future that Works: A Conversation with Governor JB Pritzker
This event is part of Democrats Abroad’s Freedom Weeks Series.
Governor JB Pritzker joins Democrats Abroad for an energizing conversation about what it takes to build a future that truly works for everyone.
Tuesday, June 2 at 7:30 PM CEST
- Resolutions Post-Mortem
This community Town Hall, hosted by the Resolutions Committee, offers members an open space to reflect on the 2026 resolutions process. Together, we’ll look at what worked, what didn’t, and where we can strengthen transparency, participation, and efficiency for next year.
Tuesday, June 9 at 3 PM CEST
- The Global Women's Caucus is developing a Global Feminist Cookbook and they are inviting submissions - it's a fundraiser that will drop sometime next fall. Please share a recipe that is meaningful; passed down from your ancestors, best friend, or mom; inspired by your host country; or comfort food.
You can submit a recipe here; the deadline is June 30th.
