Democrats in Singapore are gathering on Saturday 22 April at the St Regis Residences to commemorate Earth Day. Please join us!
This event takes place at the home of Tricia and Rich Augustine-Hamilton. Please arrive by 10:30am for brief presentations by environmental activist Cord M. Briggs, and environmental consultant Ken Hickson. Click here for more information. They bring news from the frontlines of the battle to protect the environment. We have made progress, but not enough. Community education and engagement/grassroots activism is essential!
Members will be invited to take part in an Earth Day postcard campaign and provided with model language for messages to elected officials, the cabinet, and others about the need for environmental protection and climate change action. Kids are strongly encouraged to participate! We will provide the postcards. Please BYO pens and donations for postage are welcome.
We urge you to bring your families! Older children will get as much out of the keynote presentations as the adults. For the smaller ones, we will be screening “Wall-E,” a wonderful Disney animation about the last robot on earth who is tasked with cleaning up waste.
Pot Luck Lunch and Outdoor Fun
Please bring a plate to share. After the presentations are completed we will go down to a space reserved by the St Regis pool for some lunch, socialising and splashy fun. Please bring your suits and a towel if you wish to swim.
There will also be a kid’s eco-craft table for making wonderful creations from natural or recycled materials. And there’s a mini-playground on site too!
In the poolside media room we will be screening a documentary called, “A Plastic Ocean” that will provide stunning insights on the condition of the seas and advice on how small changes in our day to day living can make an positive impact on the health of the ocean and all that live in it.
In order to make this event truly eco-friendly we will:
- Provide biodegradable plates, cups and cutlery;
- Conserve on paper by posting sample language for the postcard campaign on the website, accessible from participants’ mobile phones.
- Conserve on the unnecessary consumption of paper or plastics and NOT decorate; and
- Encourage you to arrive via public transportation rather than taxi or car (though paid parking will be available for those who really must drive to the St Regis Residences)

Get off at Orchard and follow signs for Wheelock/Patterson Link. Exit the Wheelock Mall exit and take a left. Walk down Orchard Rd. pass Forum Mall. Make left on Cuscaden Road at the corner of the Forum Mall. St. Regis Residences is on the right. Tower B (our apartment) is last driveway in the complex. You will pass Tower C first. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train.
There are buses that stop right around the corner from my place. Bus stop is at Tomlinson Road. Numbers: 105, 106, 111, 123, 132, 174, 36, 7, 77. Walk down Tomlinson Road and take a left on Cuscaden. I am the first driveway on the left (Tower B)
From North and South is the same: Take Orchard BLVD (not Orchard Rd) to Tomlinson road. Make a right onto Tomlinson road. And then first right onto Cuscaden road. Once on Cuscaden Road the St. Regis Tower C driveway to parking lot is the second entrance to the St. Regis on the left. Tricia and Rich are in tower B not C. Once you have parked follow signs for tower B and go to the 1st floor. There will be someone in the lobby to direct you to Tricia and Rich’s apartment.
